It was just recently that I was asked for new stock from a fabulous space in Parkhurst (it’s Ants by the way), who already has some SJ pieces, but needed some in keeping with their new themed installation – Live Light. In the sea of black that is usually our Somerset Jane girl.. I thought hmmmmm…So the wrap slash cardigan slash open shirt, or whatever it is that I posted about the other day got a ‘Live Light’ makeover! I had been watching a television series called Flesh and Bone, all about the New York City Ballet scene at the time, and kept wishing I was a ballet dancer, if only to look as uber cool as they do in pink tights and ripped old sweaters – cue the momentary mind flash of running to your wardrobe with scissors and a carelessness that can ony spell danger.
In the midst of all that it’s only natural that a pink coversion was to take place, and the result was in fact ‘light’. Or let’s say the usual Somerset Jane just ‘lightened up’. Suddenly I’d wear this upper/outer wear to yoga class, with pyjamas, straight out the shower with a towel as a skirt. Yuh huh..
I’m not sure how the paradise board made it’s way into the mix. Yes the colours mood-match, and I have this board directly to the left of me daily in my work space. It’s to pretend work is my paradise, or some mental game of that sort we tend to make oursleves feel better with. Or maybe it’s just that clothing yourself in something light and lovely and super feminine in all it’s pink-ness is paradise. Yeah, I think that’s it.
